Ignition Upgrade Kit

The Racedom Mazda RX8 MSD Smart Coils Ignition Kit is a comprehensive upgrade designed to enhance the ignition system of the Mazda RX8's Renesis rotary engine. This kit aims to provide the most potent aftermarket ignition coil solution available. At its core, the kit utilizes four MSD IGN-1A smart coils. A key benefit is their efficiency; they produce a hotter spark while drawing less power from the vehicle's electrical system, reducing the demand on the alternator and battery. The kit also includes custom-tailored 8.5mm MSD Super Conductor spark plug wires, designed with extremely low resistance and a special core to effectively suppress electromagnetic interference (EMI), preventing it from disrupting other electronic components. These wires feature a durable silicone and synthetic blend outer cover resistant to heat, abrasion, and tears. The harness allows for a straightforward installation, connecting to the vehicle's ECU outputs. The MSD coils themselves feature built-in ignitors compatible with various aftermarket ECUs, including Holley EFI, and can operate up to 17 volts, making them suitable for both 12-volt and 16-volt systems. Mounting holes are elongated to facilitate direct replacement of factory LS coils or to mount in the factory RX8 ignition coil position, with an optional mounting bracket available. Installation of this kit involves removing the old ignition coils and plug wires. Specific wiring instructions are provided, detailing connections for coil trigger signals, grounds, and positive battery power, recommending appropriate gauge wiring and relay installation for optimal performance and safety.
