The Pertronix Ignitor is an electronic ignition system designed as a direct replacement for points-style ignitions. It is self-contained, requiring no external control boxes, and features a simple two-wire hookup with no permanent modifications. The Hall effect sensor is resistant to dirt, dust, moisture, and vibration, and it maintains the stock advance curve.

Its self-contained design eliminates the need for external control boxes, offering a straightforward installation with only two wires to connect and no permanent modifications to the distributor. This system utilizes a Hall effect sensor that is impervious to environmental factors like dirt, dust, moisture, and vibration, ensuring consistent performance. Designed to retain the stock advance curve, the Ignitor maintains engine timing with exceptional accuracy, reportedly within 1/4 degree, and reduces spark scatter across the entire RPM range. This leads to improved engine performance, fuel economy, and extended spark plug life. The system is specifically engineered for 12-volt negative ground systems and is suitable for MGB models equipped with a replacement distributor, particularly those fitted with Lucas 45D4 distributors.
