Ignitron ECU

The EFI Motorsport Ignitron ECU is a specialized, plug-and-play standalone engine management system developed for VW/AUDI/SEAT/SKODA 1.8 20V Turbo engines, with compatibility for other platforms up to six cylinders after minor loom modifications. It is recommended for heavily modified engines aiming for power levels significantly exceeding original specifications. This ECU offers advanced control, allowing users to run the engine on a true speed density method or with a mass airflow sensor, and can be reconfigured rapidly, even trackside. Key features include extensive sensor inputs (8 analog voltage, 3 analog resistance, 9 digital, 2 piezoelectric knock, 1 wideband lambda, 1 inductive, 2 Hall), up to 8 high impedance injectors, and up to 6 Coil On Plug ignition channels. It provides flexible fuel support with simultaneous calculations for two different fuels and blending capabilities, along with advanced corrections for various engine parameters. The system also offers sophisticated boost control with up to 4 switchable maps, idle control, and support for auxiliary devices like electronic throttle bodies and cooling fans. Troubleshooting and tuning are facilitated through comprehensive data logging with hundreds of variables at once, a sampling rate up to 33Hz, and self-learning capabilities for fuel injection and ignition adaptation. In case of issues, a limp mode can be activated, and fault codes can be read from memory or via the automatic data logger. The ECU supports CAN bus communication, including VW/Audi CAN protocol emulation up to V4.1.3, and is OBD-II compatible (ISO 15765-4 CAN 11/500kbit). The host software, compatible with Windows XP through 10, allows for ECU setup, engine diagnostics, and firmware upgrades. This ECU is not for the faint-hearted or users worried about fault codes, as it may reveal existing engine problems. It requires basic engine management knowledge; professional tuning consultation is advised if unfamiliar.
