Infinity 708 Standalone Programmable Engine Management System

The AEM Infinity-708 (PN 30-7109) is a stand-alone programmable engine management system built around a powerful 200MHz automotive processor, capable of 400 MIPS. This Infinity ECU is specifically released as a Plug and Play option for the North American 2001-2006 BMW E46 M3 with a manual transmission. It includes an application-specific start-up calibration and integrates with the vehicle's factory CAN bus system, allowing features to be controlled via existing buttons on the steering wheel and console. The ECU fits in the factory location. A separate Plug and Play harness (PN 30-3510) is required for installation and features dual Lambda ports, an AEMnet port, and an expansion port for additional sensors. Advanced features include map switching integrated into factory buttons, allowing users to select from 8 modes for boost, fuel, and timing maps on the fly. The system also offers a three-step rev limiter and definable rev limits displayed on the factory tachometer's LED ring. For traction control, the Infinity ECU leverages the factory wheel speed/ABS sensors for adjustments via fuel cut, spark cut, or DBW throttle response, with enable/disable functionality configurable to factory buttons. Additional capabilities include user-definable Drive-by-Wire throttle response curves, airflow model-based tuning for simplified setup, flex fuel compatibility, multi-fuel capability, variable valve control, multiple boost control strategies, nitrous control, dual internal Lambda controllers, dual knock sensing circuits, and extensive data logging up to 64GB. The system boasts a weather-resistant sealed enclosure and IP67 rated communication ports.
