It includes a mesh cover to protect the intake from larger debris and a main filter specifically engineered to capture fine particulate matter (PM 2.5). This main filter utilizes electrostatic charging to attract dust and pollen, and its antibacterial material helps resist the development of unpleasant odors. While convertibles might seem exempt from needing cabin air filters, this system is beneficial when the top is up. The ND model does not come with a factory cabin air filter, but this kit utilizes a pre-existing pocket hidden behind the dash for installation. The process is more involved than typical filter replacements but is manageable, with installation videos available. It's important to note that this filter may slightly reduce maximum airflow, though the difference is usually unnoticeable unless the highest fan speed is frequently used. Both the filter and the screen are considered maintenance items and typically require replacement annually, or sooner if a decrease in airflow or new smells are detected. This cabin air filter kit is confirmed to fit the 2016-2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata and the 2017-2025 RF models. A customer has also verified fitment with the Fiat 124.
