The Rein Automotive air intake boot is a direct replacement for the OE part on various BMW models. It connects the throttle body to the air intake system and includes a branch for the idle control valve. Over time, the original rubber boot can develop cracks due to dry rot, resulting in vacuum leaks. These leaks can manifest as a check engine light, rough idle, audible intake noises, and decreased fuel efficiency, potentially leading to further engine damage. This intake boot is constructed from durable rubber to ensure longevity and proper fitment. It serves as a critical component in channeling clean air from the atmosphere through the air filter and into the intake manifold, which is essential for optimal air/fuel mixture and engine performance. When this hose fails, the engine may struggle to receive adequate air, forcing it to compensate with more fuel, thus reducing fuel economy. When replacing this boot along with the other intake boot (Rein part: "BMW Intake Boot - Rein 13541705209"), customers have reported that the combined length of the two Rein boots is approximately one inch shorter than the stock BMW air boots. This discrepancy may require a spacer piece or adjustment of the air filter box to ensure a proper seal and fitment.
