Integrated Engineering (IE) Air-to-Air Intercooler System

The Integrated Engineering (IE) IETPDA1 is an advanced air-to-air intercooler system engineered for the Audi B9 RS5. Its core volume is a substantial 18,500cm³, a significant increase from the stock 1,870cm³, ensuring superior cooling capacity. The system incorporates IE's proprietary Flow Distribution System (FDS) with precisely shaped internal fins to promote even airflow across the entire core surface. This technology not only enhances heat distribution and allows for quicker temperature recovery but also plays a crucial role in reducing Intake Air Temperatures (IATs), which is vital for maintaining peak engine performance. Heat soak can lead to significant power loss as the engine programming pulls timing and boost to compensate for high IATs. The iE Intercooler combats this by drastically increasing core size and optimizing surface area usage with FDS technology, resulting in consistently lower IATs compared to the OEM unit and keeping the RS5 at its maximum output. Back-to-back testing has shown average power gains of 36HP and 35 ft-lbs of torque, largely due to reduced timing and boost pull caused by lower intake temperatures, alongside benefits from denser, cooler charge air. Constructed from aluminum with thick-gauge stainless steel and aluminum mounting brackets, this intercooler is built for durability. It retains the factory crash bar for safety. The manufacturing process involves meticulous hand TIG welding by specialists, followed by rigorous multi-point inspections and leak-down testing to ensure quality and reliability. Installation is involved, requiring coolant draining and some minor plastic trimming, with an average install time of 2-4 hours. An auto-lift is recommended but not required. This intercooler system is confirmed to fit North American Audi B9 RS5 models (2018-2025 with the 2.9TT engine). It is not compatible with the front crash beam found on Rest Of World (ROW) RS5/RS4 models.
