The Integrated Engineering FDS Intercooler is engineered to solve heat soak issues prevalent in many Audi B9 and C8 chassis vehicles. By utilizing a larger bar and plate core and their proprietary FDS (Flow Distribution System) technology, this intercooler significantly lowers intake air temperatures (IATs) by an average of 20-30°C compared to the factory unit. This enhanced cooling capacity translates to more predictable and consistent power delivery, especially in tuned vehicles or those with higher boost levels. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis was employed to optimize the end tanks and FDS system, minimizing pressure drop across the core, which allows the turbocharger to operate more efficiently and deliver more usable boost. This reduction in pressure drop is substantial, with tests showing a ~70% decrease on the B9 platform at Stage 1 power levels. Constructed with cast and machined end tanks, precise TIG welding, and a dense bar and plate core, this intercooler is built for durability and high performance. It is designed as a perfect OEM replacement, featuring CNC machined mounting points that allow for the reuse of factory mounting hardware, requiring minimal modification for installation. Each intercooler undergoes rigorous testing on an in-house testing station before shipment to ensure quality and readiness for immediate installation. The kit includes the direct-fit core, installation brackets, necessary hardware, and an installation manual. Installation requires a standard toolset, a few torx bits, and some technical expertise. While it is a direct replacement with no cutting or trimming needed, reviewing the provided installation guide and overview video is recommended. This intercooler is designed for a range of Audi models including the S4 (2017-2023), S5 (2017-2023), A6 (2018-2023), A7 (2018-2023), SQ5 (2018-2023), A4 (2021), A5 (2017-2021), and A4 Allroad (2017-2021). It is most beneficial for vehicles with Stage 1 software or higher and is necessary for big turbo setups. Importantly, this intercooler is not compatible with late-model year vehicles equipped with active grille shutters; verification is required before ordering.
