The PRL Motorsports Intercooler Upgrade is engineered to combat heat-soak in the 2016-2021 Honda Civic 1.5T, a common issue that leads to detonation risk and power loss. This kit addresses these problems with a robust bar-and-plate core, measuring 25.6x4x6.3 inches, capable of handling 550+ horsepower (and tested up to 600+). It also features machined billet aluminum end tanks for durability and a premium finish. The kit includes the intercooler assembly with end tanks, air guides with stainless hardware, billet aluminum factory charge pipe adapters, a "PRL" logo stencil, and replacement O-rings. The manufacturer states that no ECU calibration is required for installation, though removal of the lower factory intake air box damper is recommended for optimal fitment. The intercooler can be used with factory charge piping or paired with PRL's charge pipe upgrade kit for enhanced performance. This intercooler upgrade offers significant benefits, including a claimed 9 horsepower and 3 ft/lb of torque gain from a simple bolt-on installation. More critically, it provides a substantial reduction in charge air temperatures, with a peak drop of over 50°F and an average drop of 36°F.
