The MMR Performance Intercooler is engineered as a direct replacement for the factory intercooler in the Mini JCW F5x, addressing the limitations of the stock unit under higher power demands. The factory intercooler is known to struggle with high power and hard driving, leading to power loss as air temperatures rise and requiring lengthy cool-down periods. This upgraded intercooler utilizes a substantial 'Tube and Fin' stepped core, offering nearly double the OE core volume and approximately 70% greater frontal area. This design significantly reduces charge air temperatures while minimizing pressure drop, allowing for maximum power and torque output. The core features internal turbulators to enhance cooling performance, and CFD-optimized end tanks ensure optimal airflow. Despite its increased size, the intercooler weighs only 9.2kg. The development focused on balancing IAT cooling with minimal pressure loss to avoid increased turbo lag. This intercooler is specifically designed for vehicles with B46 and B48 engine codes. It does not fit the Mini F57 or cars with the B48.D engine code.
