The Pioneer BDR-212DBK is an internal SATA Blu-ray disc drive designed for system builders and users looking to upgrade to a fast Blu-ray burner. It offers the fastest speeds in the market for BD-R dual layer media at 14x, and up to 16x for BD-R single-layer discs. This drive provides robust long-term data protection with M-DISC support, allowing users to back up valuable files with fewer discs. It is backward compatible, capable of reading and writing to most DVD and CD formats, ensuring versatility for various media types. Key features include QuickPlay for faster movie disc access, a noise suppression design to minimize operational sound, an anti-dust design for increased durability, and Precision Writing Technology to reduce write errors. The drive utilizes a Serial ATA Revision 3.0 interface and has a 4 MB data buffer, supporting both horizontal and vertical mounting orientations (though 8cm discs are not supported in vertical orientation). It is compatible with a wide range of blank media, including BD-R (Single/Dual layer), BD-RE (Single/Dual layer), BD-R LTH, M-DISC (Single/Dual layer), various DVD formats (DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD+RW, High speed DVD+RW, M-DISC(DVD)), and CD formats (CD-R, CD-RW, HS CD-RW, US CD-RW, US+CD-RW).
