Overview

The DENSO IX27 is an Iridium Power spark plug. It features a 0.4mm iridium-tipped, laser-welded fine wire center electrode designed to reduce required voltage and improve firing performance. The spark plug has a tapered cut U-Groove ground electrode to increase ignitability and decrease quenching. Machine-rolled threads prevent seizing or cross-threading during installation and removal.

The DENSO IX27 is an Iridium Power spark plug engineered for enhanced engine performance. Its design includes a 0.4mm iridium-tipped, laser-welded fine wire center electrode, which significantly reduces the voltage needed for ignition and improves the consistency of the spark. This leads to better combustion and potentially improved acceleration. The spark plug also features a U-Groove ground electrode with a tapered cut. This innovative design increases ignitability by creating a more efficient spark path and decreases quenching, the effect where the spark is cooled by the electrode surface, further optimizing combustion. The threads are machine-rolled to ensure they prevent seizing or cross-threading during installation and removal, making the process smoother and safer for the engine head. Constructed with a purified alumina powder insulator, the IX27 offers exceptional strength and thermal conductivity, crucial for dissipating heat effectively and preventing premature wear. A five-rib insulator design is incorporated to prevent flashover, a condition where the spark jumps to an unintended path. Additionally, a copper-glass seal bonds the center electrode and insulator, creating a gas-tight seal that ensures reliable performance and longevity. This spark plug is rated for approximately 30,000 miles of use.
