The Steeda IRS Subframe bracket kit is engineered to significantly improve the handling characteristics of the 1999-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra by eliminating the inherent flex in the Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) subframe mounting bracket. The factory design features a cantilevered bracket where the outer half is unsupported, allowing considerable flex under load. This flex translates to less predictable rear suspension behavior and can contribute to wheel hop. This reinforcement kit addresses these issues directly. Constructed from steel, this support kit welds to the existing subframe bracket and utilizes supplied hardware to bolt to the inner fender well. This creates a stiffer connection, reinforcing the entire IRS subframe assembly. The primary benefits include a stabilized Cobra rear subframe connection, improved overall handling, enhanced responsiveness, and a reduction in wheel hop. The installation involves welding and bolting, requiring appropriate tools and skills. This kit is specifically designed for the 1999-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra models.
