IS38 Replacement Turbocharger

The CTS Turbo IS38 Replacement Turbocharger is engineered as a direct replacement for the factory IHI IS38 turbo on MQB vehicles from 2015 onwards, and also serves as an upgrade for vehicles equipped with IS12 and IS20 turbos. This unit features an upgraded turbine shaft and bearings for enhanced performance and durability, complemented by a stainless steel turbine housing manufactured to OEM-spec tolerances. It is a brand new unit, meaning no core charge is required. When upgrading from a smaller turbo (IS12 or IS20), proper tuning software is essential, and compatibility with any IS38 software is confirmed. CTS Turbo recommends their downpipe and intercooler for optimal performance when upgrading. Installation involves a straightforward replacement of the factory turbo, utilizing all OEM gaskets and hardware. The diverter valve or BOV and wastegate actuator will need to be transferred from the original turbo (not included). Important notes for installation and warranty include: Always follow the proper procedure for checking and adjusting the wastegate actuator, replace engine oil, and prime the turbocharger before starting the engine. Professional installation is recommended. The turbocharger is covered by a 6-month limited manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This warranty excludes damage from abuse, misuse, improper installation, racing, or normal wear and tear. It's important to note that this product is not for sale or use in California on any pollution-controlled vehicle per the California Air Resources Board.
