If your turbo is not building the boost that you remember and is beyond repair for any reason, this IHI IS38 Turbocharger is the direct replacement you need. This turbocharger is generally cooled by engine coolant and lubricated by engine oil, with two feed lines and two return lines typically connecting to the unit. Over time, turbochargers can wear out, leading to symptoms such as oil leaks, smoking exhaust, low boost pressure, limp mode, high oil consumption, or play in the turbine shaft due to worn bearings. If you suspect your turbocharger is worn or nearing failure, it is advised to replace it to prevent further engine damage. This genuine VW Audi IS38 Turbocharger is manufactured in Germany and is the factory turbocharger for the Golf R. While not a factory turbo for the GTI, enthusiasts often retrofit it to MK7 GTI's to increase power. It is compatible with various Audi and Volkswagen models, including the Arteon, Golf VII R Facelift, S3, and TTS Quattro. Ensure you verify fitment with your specific vehicle's details, as specific production date ranges or engine codes may apply. When reinstalling, be sure to have all necessary components ready, including coolant and oil line gaskets, banjo bolts, and crush washers. This product is not eligible for the Lifetime Replacement program.
