Overview

The Burger Motorsports BMS Data Cable is a proprietary cable designed to connect a JB4 control box to a laptop. It enables datalogging, tuning, and map loading using the free Windows JB4 software. The cable can be left in the engine bay and routed through a window or door, or routed behind the ECU into the glove box for a clean installation and on-the-fly access. Standard RS232/USB cables are not compatible and may damage the processor.

The Burger Motorsports BMS Data Cable provides a direct, hardwired connection from your JB4 control box to a Windows laptop, allowing for comprehensive datalogging, tuning, and firmware map loading. This cable is essential for users who prefer a traditional wired connection over wireless Bluetooth adapters and need access to the free Windows JB4 software. The software offers the same core functionality as the newer app, including map changes, firmware updates, and data logging, though it does not provide tuning insights or performance metrics. It can be routed discreetly through the engine bay and then out through a window or door seal, or it can be routed behind the ECU into the glove box for a cleaner, less visible setup. It is important to note that standard RS232/USB cables are incompatible with the JB4 system and could potentially damage the processor; only the specifically designed BMS data cable should be used. Compatibility for this data cable extends across a wide range of Audi and BMW models, including various A3, S3, 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, and 4 Series vehicles with specific engines and model years as detailed in the fitment guide. The cable connects to Windows laptops, Android phones, and Android tablets. It is crucial to be aware that this BMS data cable is not compatible with MAC laptops.
