K04 Hybrid Turbocharger Upgrade

The TTE420 K04 Hybrid Turbo Upgrade from TTE (The Turbo Engineers) is engineered to deliver a significant boost in performance for VAG 2.0 TFSI engines. At its core is a larger TTE billet 2871X compressor wheel, selected for its high efficiency and ability to produce extreme airflow for its size, resulting in a broad compressor map. The compressor cover is re-profiled and machined to optimize efficiency, with the original PCV port being blanked off and replaced by a smooth-flow billet blanking plate. The intake pipe is CNC ported and hand-finished, and the boost outlet is modified for optimal flow. Key to its performance is the incorporation of a much larger BorgWarner K16 curved clipped turbine and shaft, fitted within the K04 core. This K16 turbine significantly reduces back pressure and lowers Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) compared to stock K04 turbines, enabling safer, higher boost levels. The clipping of the K16 turbine further enhances gas flow and reduces rotational mass, improving the moment of inertia. Dyno tests indicate minimal loss in response compared to a stock K04, with substantial gains in power and torque. The unit is equipped with a TTE-developed 360-degree high-performance motorsport journal bearing system for high-load durability and transient response, and an uprated OE actuator with reinforced clamps for reliable operation. TTE also integrates their Billet CNC Boost adapter and silencer delete to remove restrictions and improve flow, along with a CNC-milled compressor cover for an original VAG recirculation valve. This turbocharger is designed to fit a range of Audi and Volkswagen models equipped with the 2.0T engine, including the Audi 8U Q3, A3 8P, and TT MKII, as well as various Volkswagen Beetle, CC, Eos, Golf V/VI, Jetta V/VI, Passat B6, and Tiguan (1 & 2) models.
