The KC Turbos KC300x Stage 2 (63/73) is a robust turbocharger engineered to significantly enhance the performance of the 1999.5-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke engine. Designed as a 100% drop-in replacement, it requires no modifications for installation. Key features include a 63mm 7x7 SXE-style compressor wheel utilizing extended tip technology and a 73mm SXE-style turbine wheel. The unit boasts a 4" ported compressor housing with drilled anti-surge ports for superior airflow and an adjustable wastegate actuator for precise boost control. This journal bearing turbo has undergone extensive durability testing and has demonstrated its capabilities on dynamometers and at the racetrack. Users report a substantial increase in power and a noticeable improvement in engine responsiveness. For optimal performance, especially for dedicated tow rigs and daily drivers, the .84 A/R housing option provides quicker spool and cooler Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) below 3000 RPMs, while the 1.0 A/R housing is recommended for higher RPM performance. When installing this Stage 2 turbo, it is highly recommended to consider upgrading the Up-Pipes and the Non-EBPV Pedestal for optimal performance and efficiency. Adding a tuner is also suggested. KC Turbos notes that while these turbos are designed for direct fitment in 7.3L equipped pick-up trucks, modifications to the turbo intake boot and down-pipe may be necessary for proper fitment in 7.3L equipped vans.
