The TeraFlex Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier & Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit is designed to securely carry an oversized spare tire (up to 37 inches) on Jeep Wrangler JK models. It is marketed as Chrysler's #1 preferred spare tire carrier. The design maintains single-handed entry to the rear cargo area and is engineered to eliminate tailgate stress and rattles by distributing the load across multiple factory mounting points. It is compatible with both OEM and most aftermarket bumpers, and its installation requires no drilling or modifications, utilizing existing factory locations. The carrier also features threaded mounting holes for additional off-road accessories like recovery jacks and fluid containers. Constructed from strong and lightweight A356.2 T6 cast aluminum, heavy-duty forged steel brackets, and high-carbon hardened steel 5/8" hinge pins, it boasts an OEM quality UV resistant powder coat finish. It features an innovative patented design (USPTO: # D6982240), easy fore/aft and height adjustments, and has undergone rigorous testing including 14,000-cycle severe duty slam testing, 1,000-hour extreme salt spray testing, and 3,000-hour accelerated weather testing. Requires aftermarket wheels with 5" backspacing or less, or the Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier Wheel Spacer Kit (#1055005) for stock wheels. Installation time is approximately 1-2 hours.
