The Nissan 22060-30P00 is a genuine OEM knock sensor, also referred to as a detonation sensor. This component is integral to your vehicle's engine management system. It functions by detecting abnormal engine vibrations that indicate detonation, or 'knock.' Upon detection, the sensor sends a signal to the Engine Control Unit (ECU). The ECU then adjusts the ignition timing to prevent engine damage caused by severe detonation. If this sensor malfunctions, it can send incorrect signals to the ECU, potentially causing the engine to enter a 'safety boost' mode, limiting performance and boost pressure to as low as 7 psi. This direct replacement knock sensor is manufactured to stringent Nissan factory specifications, ensuring reliability and proper fitment. It has a lookup code of 22060 and an item weight of 0.40 pounds. The sensor is covered by Nissan's factory warranty. Installation of the knock sensor may be recommended when the engine or transmission is removed for other service. The replacement process involves removing intake manifold components to access the sensor, unplugging its electrical connector, and unscrewing the retaining bolt. The new sensor should be tightened to 18 to 25 ft-lbs. Reinstallation of the intake manifold and refilling the cooling system are necessary afterward.
