The Flyin' Miata Kōgeki 17x8 wheel is an exclusive offering designed to enhance the performance and aesthetics of the ND Miata. Flow forming technology is employed, where a cast center is combined with a spun-forged barrel. This process creates a wheel that is strong in critical areas, resulting in a robust yet affordably priced component. The wheel's design is optimized for the ND Miata chassis, ensuring a precise fitment under the fenders. Engineered to clear non-Brembo stock calipers and all Flyin' Miata upgrade brake options, the Kōgeki wheel also accommodates Brembo brakes with the addition of a 5mm spacer. For those using Brembo calipers, the use of a 5mm spacer is recommended, and stronger wheel studs are advised for spacers thicker than 3mm. The wheels are JWL certified and rated for 550 kg (1213 lbs) load capacity, exceeding the common 500 kg standard for added durability. Tire slip is minimized thanks to integrated knurling. Fitment considerations include the ability to mount 225/45-17 or 235/40-17 tires under unmodified fenders. However, wider 235/40-17 tires, such as the Toyo R1R, may experience minor rubbing on the front lower control arm at full lock. While this is typically a cosmetic issue, it is something to be aware of. The wheels are compatible with factory TPMS sensors and can use stock lug nuts, though care must be taken with socket sizes, as 21mm impact sockets may not clear. It's recommended to use 19mm impact sockets. Wheels are sold individually; a set of four is required. While designed primarily for the ND Miata (2016-2025), these wheels can also be fitted to NA (1990-1997) and NB (1999-2005, including MSM) models. For NA and NB fitment, a 10-20 mm spacer may be necessary for optimal alignment depending on tire size. Regular inspection for cracks and fatigue is recommended for wheels used in track conditions.
