The 27WON Kuro turbocharger represents a significant upgrade for the K20C1 engine, targeting enthusiasts of the FK8 and FL5 Honda Civic Type R, DE5 Acura Integra Type S, and 2018+ Accord 2.0T. Its design features a precisely machined 8+0 point-milled compressor wheel, nearly 12% lighter than OEM and capable of moving more air for quicker transient response. Complementing this is a 9-blade Inconel turbine wheel, chosen for its extreme temperature and chemical resistance. At the core of the Kuro turbo is a TD04 ceramic ball bearing (BB) center housing and rotating assembly (CHRA). Unlike the factory's journal-bearing (JB) system, the BB CHRA offers improved reliability and is less prone to leaking or smoking, especially under higher boost pressures. Its angular contact bearings can handle more sudden and abrupt loads, ensuring consistent performance during demanding driving conditions. Compared to the OEM MHI turbo, the 27WON Kuro features larger compressor (50mm inducer, 67mm exducer) and turbine (52mm inducer, 45.7mm exducer) wheels.
