The ARP L19 head studs are a replacement kit for the 6-bolt 4G63 engine found in DSM and GVR4 models. This kit includes 10 L19 studs, 10 8740 washers, 10 8740 chrome moly 12-point nuts, and assembly lube. The studs are 12mm in size and made from L19 material, comparable to H11 tool steel, offering superior strength and fatigue properties.

The ARP L19 head studs are a premium replacement kit designed for the 6-bolt 4G63 engine, commonly found in 1G DSM and Galant VR4 models. These studs are engineered to address head lifting issues common in 4G63 blocks operating above 35 PSI, providing a stronger solution for high-performance applications. The kit features 12mm studs made from L19 material, a high-strength steel comparable to A1 Technologies H11 Tool Steel. This material boasts a yield strength between 200,000-230,000 psi and a tensile strength of 260,000 psi, allowing for a clamp load of 260,000 psi. This makes them ideal for short track and drag racing where extreme inertia loads are a concern, exceeding the capabilities of standard ARP2000 or 8740 studs. Each kit includes a full set of 10 L19 studs, 10 8740 washers, 10 8740 chrome moly 12-point nuts, and Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lube. Installation is a direct drop-in replacement for OEM head studs, requiring no modifications to the cylinder head or block. However, special care is necessary when handling L19 studs: always use gloves to avoid direct skin contact, as the material is easily contaminated and susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement, stress corrosion, and moisture exposure. Keep the studs well-oiled at all times.
