The Ford Performance CM-6731-FL820 is a premium racing oil filter engineered to provide exceptional engine protection for demanding applications. Its construction utilizes a synthetic-polymer/cellulose-fiber blend media for enhanced filtration and a heavier gauge base and canister, contributing to higher burst strength and impulse fatigue resistance. This filter replaces the Motorcraft FL-820 and can serve as an upgrade for the FL-500 filter where space permits. This Ford Performance oil filter is recommended for 1996-2014 Mustang, 2004-2014 F-150, and Super Duty trucks. Specific fitment includes various engine sizes such as 3.7L, 4.0L, 4.6L 2V/3V/4V, and 5.0L TiVCT engines. It also fits the 2012-2013 Mustang Boss 302 with a factory-installed oil cooler. However, some forum discussions indicate potential fitment issues due to limited space in certain applications, suggesting that while it replaces the FL-820, it may not thread properly on all engines where the FL-820 is standard.
