The BMW Genuine Parts 31121132353 is an aftermarket left upper thrust rod, also known as a left upper control arm, for select BMW models. The integrated ball joint is also critical for proper handling. This thrust rod is specifically designed for the E28 5-Series from 1982-1988 and the E24 6-Series from 1983-1989. It is important to note that this part is not compatible with 6-Series models prior to the 1983 model year. The original rubber bushing in these arms is known to wear out prematurely, leading to symptoms such as sloppy steering, uneven tire wear, and instability during braking. A worn ball joint can also contribute to poor handling and accelerated tire wear. When diagnosing steering or suspension issues on these models, it is recommended to inspect the thrust rod bushing, ball joint, and the lower control arm (track rod).
