Level 1 Clutch Kit

The Flyin' Miata Level 1 Performance clutch offers a significant upgrade for NA and NB Miata models, aiming for exceptional drivability and performance. It incorporates a new friction disc design with a thinner disc and a lower profile marcel spring, which decreases the necessary pedal throw, thereby minimizing the need for frequent pedal adjustments. This clutch was developed in collaboration with a major manufacturer to provide a user-friendly experience, feeling almost like a stock clutch while offering enhanced torque capacity. Constructed with a steelback copper woven organic friction material, the Level 1 clutch is rated to hold 318 lb-ft of torque at the crank. This makes it suitable for turbo and supercharged applications, even with unmodified engine internals. The design emphasizes a smooth take-up, ease of driving, and reduced stress on the thrust bearing and clutch hydraulics. This kit is compatible with 1.8L engines and can be used on 1.6L engines if a 1.8L flywheel is also installed. It includes essential components such as the clutch switch over-ride, pilot bearing, throwout (release) bearing, and a clutch alignment tool. Flyin' Miata strongly recommends replacing seals during installation, particularly the rear main seal, and suggests using their installation tool for precise placement. Fitment includes 1990-1997, 1999-2005, and 2004-2005 MSM models. For 5-speed transmissions, a transmission input gasket is required; 6-speed transmissions do not need this specific gasket.
