Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel

The JB Racing 520-150-240 is a performance-oriented lightweight aluminum flywheel engineered for the BMW E39 540 models manufactured between June 1996 and 2003 with the M62 engine. This flywheel significantly reduces rotating mass and Moment of Inertia (MOI), allowing the engine to rev faster and freeing up more power. Each flywheel is precision CNC-machined from high-strength billet aluminum and constructed as a single-mass unit. It meticulously replicates critical OEM dimensions and maintains full compatibility with original clutch components. For added durability and serviceability, it features a replaceable, bolted-on hardened steel clutch surface (no rivets) and hardened steel gall plate to prevent bolt damage. Durable heli-coil inserts are used to protect pressure plate threads during service, and it includes an OEM-style starter ring gear. The hardware is metric. Weighing only 13 lbs, this flywheel represents a substantial weight reduction compared to the OEM's 38 lbs. JB Racing flywheels are designed, built, and balanced in-house using advanced equipment.
