Overview

The Dart Little M2 engine block is a high-strength cast iron block designed as a starting point for powerful and reliable street or race engines. It utilizes standard small block components while incorporating features not found in production castings, such as extra-thick cylinder walls, scalloped water jacket walls, a priority main oiling system, and extra-thick decks. This block also features splayed outer bolts and still uses stock components for compatibility.

The Dart Little M2 engine block provides a robust foundation for building a high-performance engine for street or track use. Constructed from premium, high-strength cast iron (220 BHN), it is designed to withstand the rigors of racing applications while remaining compatible with standard off-the-shelf small block components. This block features a competition oiling system that prioritizes lubrication to the main bearings at high RPMs, ensuring reliability under demanding conditions. Key design elements include extra-thick Siamese cylinder bores that resist cracking and improve ring seal, yielding more power. The water jacket walls are scalloped for better cooling, and the decks are extra thick for rigidity. It also incorporates splayed outer bolts for improved main cap stability and blind head bolt holes that do not penetrate the water jacket. The enlarged lifter bosses accommodate offset and oversize lifters, and the open lifter valley enhances oil return to the pan. It features front and rear external oil feeds, crossover, and restrictor provisions for simplified plumbing with external oil pumps. The main bearing caps are billet steel 4-bolt on all 5 mains, and the rear main seal type is 2-piece. The Little M2 block has a 4.125" bore, a 9.025" deck height, and accepts Chevrolet 350 main bearings.
