LNF Stage 2 Performance Cams

The ZZP LNF Stage 2 Performance Cams are a significant upgrade for LNF powered vehicles, featuring a profile that has powered cars to 10-second quarter-mile times and over 700 wheel horsepower. These cams offer increased intake duration (224 degrees at 1mm lash) and exhaust duration (218 degrees at 1mm lash), paired with higher lift on both intake (.438") and exhaust (.420"). A key feature of these Stage 2 cams is the inclusion of a .050" larger fuel pump lobe on the intake cam. This enhancement is crucial for direct-injection engines like the LNF, as it increases fuel pressure and flow capacity. Dyno tests show this can lead to a significant horsepower increase (from 395 to 474 peak horsepower on E85) by maintaining optimal fuel pressure throughout the power band, preventing poor combustion due to low pressure. Installation requires specific attention and potentially new hardware. The kit includes taller lash adjusters needed for the cam profile. It is mandatory to replace the stock TTY camshaft bolts with upgraded, reusable ones. Furthermore, replacing valve springs and retainers is essential. ZZP also recommends removing or replacing balance shafts with neutral balance shafts and upgrading to an ATI balancer if the engine will be spun above 7,000 RPM. It is critical to note that these cams are specifically for LNF heads. They will not work with LDK heads; users with LDK heads must purchase the LHU version instead, as the exhaust cam is longer. Proper installation by a knowledgeable mechanic is vital to avoid poor performance or severe engine damage. Incorrect timing chain and gear setup can lead to codes such as P0014 or P0017.
