Description

The Flash Shark long tube header and Y-pipe kit offers a performance upgrade for 1999-2006 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Avalanche 1500 trucks and SUVs equipped with 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L Vortec V8 engines. The long tube design enhances exhaust scavenging, leading to improved throttle response, mid-range power, and a deeper, more aggressive V8 exhaust note. With supporting modifications and a proper tune, significant horsepower and torque gains, potentially in the 20-25+ HP range, are achievable. Constructed from durable stainless steel with precision TIG welds and CNC-machined flanges, this header system is built for longevity and resistance to heat and corrosion. The kit includes the long tube headers, a matching 3-inch Y-pipe, gaskets, and necessary hardware for installation. Available finishes include Silver and Black. Installation is a bolt-on process for 2WD models. However, 4WD models may require Y-pipe modification due to potential interference with the front driveshaft. Additionally, if using a 4L80E transmission, the bellhousing ears might need trimming for clearance. O2 sensor extensions may also be necessary as the header placement alters sensor location. A professional tune is strongly recommended to optimize performance and prevent check engine lights. For owners of cammed or tuned trucks, these headers offer a substantial opportunity to unlock more power by improving exhaust flow.
