By lowering engine operating temperatures, this thermostat increases thermal efficiency, leading to enhanced performance, improved reliability, and a longer engine lifespan. It is designed as a direct replacement for the OEM unit, requiring only the loosening of two bolts for installation. This performance thermostat activates at a lower temperature of 76 degrees Celsius (168 degrees Fahrenheit), compared to the stock thermostat which typically activates at 180 degrees Fahrenheit or above. This lower activation temperature helps keep the engine running cooler, which can contribute to a slight increase in horsepower, particularly at or near full throttle, as noted in some user experiences. The product is described as OEM quality and an easy bolt-on installation. The Shark Racing Performance Thermostat is compatible with vehicles equipped with 1.8L and 2.0L Beta engines manufactured up to 2010, and 1.6L non-turbo and 1.6L turbo Gamma engines from 2011 onwards. It is essential to confirm that your vehicle has either the Beta or Gamma engine before purchasing. If unsure about compatibility, customers are advised to contact Shark Racing for verification.
