The Texas Speed roller rocker arm kit is a high-performance valvetrain upgrade for Gen 3 and Gen 4 LS engines, including 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, and 6.0L platforms equipped with cathedral port cylinder heads. By replacing the stock components, these steel rockers provide superior durability and reduce friction through integrated roller tips, which minimize valve stem wear during high-performance use. Each rocker arm assembly comes pre-installed with a TSP trunnion upgrade, replacing the factory needle bearings for smoother operation and enhanced oiling reliability. This design provides the necessary strength to handle performance demands without the excessive weight of many aftermarket systems, ensuring the valvetrain maintains its stability and high-RPM capability. Installation of this kit requires specific attention to valvetrain geometry. Because of the unique design of these rockers, you will need to change your pushrods to maintain correct lifter preload. The manufacturer recommends using pushrods approximately .175" shorter than your current factory-length setup. Always verify the correct pushrod length during installation to ensure proper geometry and prevent engine damage. These rockers are engineered to fit factory rocker arm pedestals, providing a straightforward bolt-on path for your Gen 3 or Gen 4 cathedral port engine.
