The Gwatney Performance GPI-LS1-CAM-KIT is a comprehensive camshaft upgrade package for 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvettes and 1998-2002 Chevrolet Camaros and Pontiac Trans Ams equipped with LS1, LS6 (3 Bolt) engines. This kit provides the essential components needed to complete a camshaft installation. The kit offers a selection of camshaft profiles tailored to different performance goals and vehicle setups. The SS1 cam is designed for stock torque converters, offering stable idle, good low-end torque, and quiet operation for vehicles with minimal modifications. For those seeking more power, the SS2 cam is suited for street/strip use with a 3000+ RPM torque converter, adding an estimated 10-15 horsepower over the SS1. The SS3 cam is their most popular choice for serious street/strip enthusiasts, delivering significant torque and horsepower gains and is very strong up to 6900 RPM, requiring a 3600+ RPM converter and 3.91 gearing.
