Overview

The Chevrolet Performance LSX 454 Crate Engine is a Gen-IV Small-Block V-8 engine offering big-block performance. It features an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly and LSX six-bolt cylinder heads. The engine also includes orange powder-coated valve covers with engraved LSX454 logos.

The Chevrolet Performance LSX 454 Crate Engine brings big-block performance to a small-block footprint, utilizing the LSX Bowtie block for modern technology in a compact design. This engine is equipped with an all-forged, super-tough rotating assembly, ensuring durability and reliability. Key components include 4340 forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods, forged aluminum pistons, and LSX-LS7 aluminum cylinder heads with 2.200-inch titanium intake valves and 1.610-inch hollow, sodium-filled exhaust valves. The hydraulic roller camshaft provides 0.648-inch lift for both intake and exhaust, with durations of 236° intake and 246° exhaust at 0.050-inch lift. The engine is rated at 627 horsepower at 6300 RPM and 586 lb-ft of torque at 5100 RPM, requiring 92 octane fuel and recommended to operate below 6500 RPM. This long block crate engine is delivered without an intake manifold, oil pan, or accessories. A carburetor and high-flow intake manifold are sold separately. Furthermore, the valve covers do not have provisions for mounting ignition coil brackets; aftermarket or custom relocation brackets are necessary. The engine also features an eight-bolt crankshaft flange, which may require an adapter for compatibility with certain transmissions.
