LT1-Based Ceramic Twin Disc Clutch Kit

The Monster Clutch Company SC Series Twin Disc Clutch is engineered to handle extreme driving conditions and significant power, with a rating of up to 1000 RWHP/RWTQ. It utilizes a modified factory GM LT1-based pressure plate for increased plate load and performance. At its core are proprietary ceramic-based friction discs, replacing standard carbon organic types, which allow the clutch to manage substantial power and abuse while maintaining a relatively civil driving experience. This twin-disc design integrates the benefits of a factory unit with the robustness required for high-demand applications, offering excellent high-RPM release and reduced moment of inertia. The assembly includes a patent-pending CNC-machined billet steel flywheel, balanced to less than 0.100 OZ/IN. While capable of street use, this clutch is not recommended for daily driving unless the user accepts an aggressive engagement characterized by chatter and shudder during take-off, which can be exacerbated by lightened flywheels. It is best suited for racing or aggressive street applications with power adders. It has a history of successful use in drag racing with recorded passes in the low 9-second range, as well as road course, HPDE, and autocross events. Installation and proper break-in are crucial for optimal performance, with moderate chatter/shudder and an on/off engagement expected with factory pedal effort, though aftermarket master cylinders may increase pedal effort.
