The AC compressor is the heart of your VW climate control system. It functions by compressing gas refrigerant into liquid and dropping the refrigerant’s temperature below freezing. This liquid refrigerant is then pumped into the evaporator core inside the passenger compartment where the blower motor blows air through the evaporator to cool the air before flowing out of the AC vents. If the AC compressor fails, refrigerant cannot be compressed and pumped through the AC system and your climate control system and not be able to cool the air coming from the AC vents.
