The AC blower motor in your VW is a direct current electrical motor attached to a squirrel cage fan blade to blow air through the dash, floor, defrost, and rear passenger vents. The AC blower motor is usually found behind the dash, but vehicles with rear AC may have a separate AC blower motor in the rear or in the center console. This allows for the front and rear of the vehicle to have independent control of the air flowing through the vents. The AC blower motor is capable of spinning at varying speeds based on current flow to the motor from the blower motor regulator controlled by the fan setting of the driver.
