The ARP 134-5502 main stud kit is engineered to provide superior strength and reliability for 1992-1997 Chevrolet LT1 engines featuring 2-bolt mains and factory windage trays. These studs are manufactured from high-strength 8740 chromoly steel, heat-treated to achieve a remarkable 190,000 psi tensile strength and 200,000 psi yield strength, ensuring they can withstand extreme operating conditions and prevent main cap walk and fretting. The precision centerless-ground studs are thread-rolled to Mil-S-8879 specifications after heat treatment, a process that enhances fatigue life and durability. The kit comes complete with hardened washers and high-strength standard hex nuts, all finished with a protective black oxide coating for excellent corrosion resistance. Installation of these main studs involves standard procedures for engine building. It is crucial to lubricate the stud threads, nuts, and washers with ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant.
