Manley Platinum Pistons are machined from high strength 2618 material, featuring a lightweight design with an offset wrist pin for quiet start-ups. They incorporate a pressure balance groove and achieve perfect ring groove to skirt squareness through a unique "one fixturing" manufacturing method, ensuring maximum horsepower. All pistons include moly-coated skirts, round wire locks, premium chrome moly wrist pins, and premium steel top ring sets from Total Seal. 9310 alloy upgraded wrist pins are also available. The pistons are forged from 2618 alloy for maximum high temperature strength and fatigue resistance. "Contour forgings" provide optimal strength-to-weight balance without grain-interrupting internal milling. A proprietary multi-step top ring groove machining process ensures precise control of groove size, geometry, flatness, and finish. Final turning in one fixturing guarantees complete squareness of rings to the cylinder wall, and Federal Form-Scan gauging validates ideal skirt indexing to pinhole and skirt-to-skirt polarity. Precise pinhole machining results in exact compression distance, lock ring groove spacing, size, and concentricity.
