Manual Rack and Pinion Conversion Kit

The UniSteer 8001120-01 manual rack and pinion conversion kit revitalizes the steering and handling of your classic 1967 Ford Mustang, eliminating slop and the need for constant steering corrections. This center take-off style rack and pinion features an offset ball center bar that precisely duplicates the stock center link. This ensures the rack maintains the exact geometry of the original front suspension, effectively eliminating bump steer for superior handling. The rack is mounted to a one-piece bracket that replaces the tubular cross member behind the front suspension. The pinion is offset on the mounting bracket towards the driver-side frame, simplifying the connection of the steering linkage to the steering column. This kit is designed for use on Big Block and Small Block 1967 Mustangs and has been successfully used with Stock Manifolds and Hooker Super Comp Headers, though other headers may require modification for an easy install. It requires the use of a mini starter. Modifications may be necessary for Mustangs equipped with Dart Heads or other aftermarket heads that necessitate different headers. It is important to note that while the kit is for the 1967 Mustang, there were slight differences in early and late 1967 models, so ensure you order the correct kit. This kit is not compatible with later model Mustangs or Cougars, which have different configurations.
