Overview

This flex can reduce brake pedal stiffness and make it harder to control the vehicle at the limit of traction. The brace aims to provide more precise braking and require less pedal travel by keeping the master cylinder in place.

Under hard braking, the firewall of a Miata can deform, allowing the brake pedal, booster, and master cylinder to move. This flex results in a less stiff brake pedal and makes precise control more difficult due to the spring-like effect in the system. The brace is adjustable for a perfect fit and is exclusive to Flyin' Miata. The brace is constructed from aluminum. It is designed for left-hand drive cars only and fits 1990-05 Miatas, with specific exclusions. It does not fit cars with the larger, double-size brake booster (typically found in 2001-02 without ABS and 2001-05 Sport non-Mazdaspeed with ABS). If your brake booster measures 3 inches thick from the firewall, it will fit; 4-inch boosters will not. There may be interference with the factory NA airbox, requiring modification. This brace is not compatible with factory shock tower braces but works with all Flyin' Miata braces. It does not fit with the Randall Cowl Intake on 1990-97 models, but it does fit on 1999-05 models. Additionally, a minimum of 1/4 inch of exposed threads above the nuts on your shock bolts is required. Specific model year considerations include: 1990-93 cars with original front upper mounts may not fit both this brace and a shock tower brace due to stud length. 1990-91 cars lacking a rear mounting hole will need a hole drilled and minor fender reshaping. 1999-2005 cars with washer bottles positioned over the exhaust manifold will require modifications to the bottle, bracket, or brace.
