It also offers a significant weight saving of 30 lbs from the rear of the vehicle compared to the full OEM exhaust system. The system is designed as a direct replacement for the OEM muffler, requiring no cutting or welding for installation. Specifically for 1997-1999 Porsche 986 Boxster models, the STREET version includes HJS Racing 200 cell tri-metallic sport catalytic converters to maintain emission compliance without triggering a check engine light. Note that 1997-1999 Boxsters require these HJS Sportcats in the inlet pipes, which are included with the Maxflo Muffler in the Street trim level. The RACE version features cat bypass pipes with O2 bungs and is recommended for off-road track use only, potentially requiring racing software to prevent fault codes.
