The MGW MT-82-RACE-SPEC is a no-compromises short-throw shifter engineered for both demanding competition racing and enjoyable daily driving. It utilizes a solid-mount design with billet strut arms and a solid linkage rod to provide a precise, "top loader" shifting sensation. This shifter is available in an X-SPEC configuration, offering up to a 25% reduction in shift throw for quicker gear changes. Customers can also choose between a Standard or Low Profile handle option for further customization. Installation is streamlined with a compact design, updated for 2016, which fits inside the car's oval cutout fully assembled, saving approximately 30 minutes off the typical installation time. The manufacturer emphasizes that a specific setting procedure, detailed in an installation video, must be completed for the shifter to function properly. Applications with a 4-inch driveshaft may encounter clearance issues, particularly if the vehicle has been lowered. This shifter is compatible with MT-82 equipped Ford Mustangs, including GT, BOSS 302, V6, and EcoBoost models. Specific thread options for the shift knob include M12 x 1.25 (OEM for 2005-2022 Mustang GT/V6/Ecoboost, 2007-2009 GT500) and M12 x 1.75 (OEM for 1982-2004 Mustang GT/V6/SVO, T56 Magnum XL).
