MK4 1.8T 02M Stage II Daily Clutch Kit

The South Bend Clutch MK4 1.8T 02M (6spd) is a performance clutch upgrade designed to handle modified engines running Stage 2 and Stage 2+ power levels. It is offered in specialized configurations: Daily, Endurance, and Drag. Each Stage 2 clutch is engineered to support increased engine modifications through higher clamp loads and carefully selected friction materials. The Stage II Daily option features a Heavy Duty Pressure Plate with an increased clamp load but little change in pedal pressure. Its Organic disc material boasts a high metal content, doubling the coefficient of friction over stock and increasing rotational strength up to a 12,000 RPM burst point. This system maintains a stock pedal feel while providing enhanced strength and durability, making it ideal for daily driving, street use, and moderate racing. For a racing environment, the Stage II Endurance configuration includes a precision-balanced pressure plate for vibration-free operation at high RPM and an altered fulcrum for positive disengagement and quick shifts. The disc features a Dual Damped design for precise control during acceleration through corners. It utilizes a hybrid friction material: Feramic (Sintered Iron) on the flywheel side and a high metal content Organic lining on the pressure plate side. This combination offers positive engagement buffered by the high graphite content of Feramic facings. It is recommended for daily and street use with a focus on Rally and Endurance racing. An SFI-approved single mass flywheel is recommended for optimal performance with this setup. The Stage II Drag configuration is built for drag racing, drifting, and limited street use. It includes a modified Heavy Duty Pressure Plate for a puck-style disc with no cushion, ensuring short and quick pedal travel. The puck design reduces rotational mass and drive surface area, increasing pressure per square inch on the friction material for minimized inertia and accelerated torque transfer. The friction material is Graphite Impregnated Ceramic, chosen for its durability, reduced chatter, heat dissipation, and high torque capacity.
