Overview

The Cometic MLS Head Gaskets are constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel for increased strength. They feature load-controlled embossments to distribute load across the sealing area and, where applicable, valve pocketing to prevent chamber intrusion. This design creates an exceptional seal with less clamp load and reduced bore distortion. The outer stainless-steel layers have a rubber-binder coating resistant to high temperatures and chemicals.

Constructed with three layers of stainless steel, it provides enhanced strength, resilience, and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are embossed and coated with a high-temperature flouroelastomer rubber (Viton), capable of withstanding extreme conditions up to 4820°F, ensuring durability in demanding environments. The gasket's center shim layer is made of uncoated stainless steel and can be varied in thickness to meet specific requirements. This MLS design is suitable for both aluminum-to-cast iron and aluminum-to-aluminum block configurations, effectively managing shearing forces. The design also promotes an even torque load distribution, leading to reduced bore distortion and eliminating the need for re-torquing after installation. This specific gasket features an 87mm bore and a thickness of .095 inches. It is designed for the 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE engines and is compatible with the following vehicles: 1993-2003 Lexus GS300, 2001-2003 Lexus IS300, 1993-2000 Lexus SC300, and 1993-1998 Toyota Supra.
