Description

The Cometic C5399-098 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket specifically engineered for Chevrolet Gen-1 Small Block V8 engines. This gasket measures 0.098 inches in thickness and accommodates a 4.030-inch bore, making it ideal for applications using aftermarket cylinder heads. Constructed with three to five layers of high-strength stainless steel, this gasket offers superior durability, corrosion resistance, and the ability to rebound under stress. This Viton coating provides excellent heat resistance, up to 250°C (482°F). Designed for customization, the Cometic C5399-098 includes undersized water ports that allow for modification to suit specific aftermarket head configurations. Unlike traditional gaskets, Cometic MLS head gaskets do not require sealants or re-torquing after installation, simplifying the assembly process.
