The Cometic C4558-051 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket engineered to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines. It is constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, ensuring increased strength, the ability to rebound, and resistance to corrosion. The outer layers are coated with Viton, a high-performance elastomer that is heat resistant up to 250 C (482 F), designed to handle demanding sealing environments, load conditions, and various surface finishes. This gasket features a compressed operating thickness of 0.051 inches and an 82mm round bore size, with a 3-layer construction. Cometic MLS head gaskets are ideal for applications involving aluminum heads to aluminum blocks, as well as aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, as they can effectively withstand the shearing forces created by dissimilar materials.
