The Cometic C4212-051 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) head gasket engineered for optimal sealing performance in high-output engines. This particular gasket is specified for the left side, with a 98mm bore and a compressed operating thickness of 0.051 inches. Constructed from multiple embossed layers of stainless steel, the outer layers of this gasket are coated with Viton rubber, a heat-resistant material capable of withstanding temperatures up to 250°C (482°F). The center shim layer is uncoated stainless steel, allowing for variation to accommodate different thickness requirements. This MLS design is ideal for sealing aluminum heads to aluminum blocks as well as aluminum heads to cast iron blocks, effectively handling the shearing forces between dissimilar materials. Their multi-layer steel construction offers increased strength, rebound ability, and resistance to corrosion. This gasket is specifically designed for Toyota 2UZ-FE engines and is compatible with select Lexus and Toyota models, including the LX-470 and Tundra.
