The Cometic C5511-080 is a Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket engineered for Ford Windsor V8 engines, including the 289, 302, and 351W non-SVO blocks. This gasket features a 4.030-inch bore and a 0.080-inch compressed thickness, providing a robust seal for demanding applications. Constructed from multiple layers of stainless steel, Cometic MLS gaskets offer superior strength and durability compared to traditional gaskets. These gaskets are particularly recommended for engines with high compression ratios, forced induction (boost), or nitrous oxide systems, as they provide a dependable seal. Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance of MLS gaskets. A surface finish of 50 RA (roughness average) or finer on the cylinder head and block surfaces is recommended for a proper gasket seal. As with all Cometic MLS head gaskets, no sealants or re-torque are required when properly installed on prepared surfaces.
