The Cometic C5245-027 is a multi-layer steel (MLS) cylinder head gasket engineered for Small Block Chevy applications. It features a 4.060-inch round bore and a compressed thickness of 0.027 inches, designed to provide maximum sealing performance for high-output engines. The gasket's construction utilizes multiple embossed layers of stainless steel. The outer layers are coated with Viton rubber, a high-performance elastomer that provides resistance to heat up to 482°F (250°C) and withstands harsh sealing environments. This design ensures durability and reliability, making it ideal for applications involving aluminum heads paired with either aluminum or cast iron blocks, as it can effectively manage the shearing forces between dissimilar materials.
